This retreat is the place for you if you enjoy being in nature, yet still have the convenience of being less than 5 minutes from the town of Farmville, where you can find restaurants, coffee shops, an authentic Belgian bakery, bridal boutiques, clothing stores, a local farmers market, unique shops, including the well-known Green Front Furniture and Accessories stores.
This area is also home to Hamden-Sydney College and Longwood University.
There are 5 state parks within 40minuties, the closest being Twin lake State Park and High Bridge Trail State Park, where you can swim at the lake, hike trails, fish, kayak, and bike over the High Bridge.
This aerial tree top adventure park has 52 obstacles including 13 zip lines. Open weekends and holidays during the spring and fall, and 5 days during the summer. Guests staying at the retreat receive 20% off the cost of tickets.
The ropes course is divided into four different courses, increasing in difficulty, similar to a ski mountain. Yellow for beginners and ages 7-9, green, blue and finally black diamond, which is 45 feet up in the tree tops with challenging obstacles. The entire experience is memorable, as you are going to come away with a feeling of triumph and self confidence. The zip lines gives that added fun, soaring through the tree tops in the shade of the forest.
